My camera is a BlackBox—an autonomous perception. Every image is an impression and a process of becoming.

Examining the Edoide–BlackBox metaphor begins with observation. Beneath every surface—a wall, a shadow, rust, a forest, a face, a forgotten object, or a trace left by time—there is always more.

Through the camera, these moments become encounters. My work explores the transformation of materials, the persistence of memory, and the emergence of hidden relationships. Photography becomes a mixed-media process of observation, material transformation, and abstract expression, where surfaces reveal what exists beyond the visible.

My autonomous perception undergoes a reincarnative transformation of renewal, deepening the harmony, tension, and visual and emotional depth of my art through a continuous process of renewal, innovation, and structural exploration.

Rooted in Bini material intelligence, the work unfolds along the Edoide Red Soil → Edoide Rust Fusion axis, where origin and transformation converge. Within this process, Edoide-BlackBox Metaphorical Duality reveals the unseen relationships through which transformation becomes visible. Through light and shadow, presence and absence, construction and erosion, the visible becomes a threshold to the invisible. Opposing forces are not contradictions to be resolved but relationships through which memory, material, and transformation continually emerge.

Rust and decay do not complain or mourn that they are changing—they reveal another form.

Transformation is the living force. Autonomy is the capacity to transform.

For me, art is not only illustration; autonomous perception determines the originality of what it becomes. Every act of seeing carries the possibility of transformation. Through the revealed memory of transformation, the work invites us to rediscover our relationship with material, memory, culture, nature, and one another.

Art Autonomist is an artistic approach centred on autonomous perception, in which observation, material and transformation play a fundamental role in shaping both the practice and the meaning of art. This approach emerged from my independent interpretation of the Edoide BlackBox and its historical context.

My work unfolds through photographic observation and transformation, revealing hidden relationships between material, memory, and time. It moves across surfaces where matter, intervention, and transformation expose what is usually hidden from the human eye.

Through concealment, erosion, and silence, Edoide–BlackBox explores a way of seeing beyond visibility — where the surface becomes an entry point into hidden processes.

The process of abstraction emerges through the relationship between the human-made and nature. Construction, erosion, intervention, and time reveal a continuous state of transformation.

The Edoide-BlackBox metaphor creates a bridge between visible and invisible relationships, it opens pathways into broader abstract expressions — life and death, crying and laughter, justice and injustice — where contradictions reveal transformation.

Through Edoide soil and rust, the work explores continuity, decay, resilience, and renewal through time — shaped by an autonomous mode of perception that defines my photographic and mixed-media process.

Forms emerge, destabilize, and dissolve. The image is not fixed — it exists as memory under pressure.

The work engages both rusted and non-rusted images. Some emerge through corrosion, weathering, and time; others through intervention, abstraction, and reconfiguration.

What connects them is not material alone, but process.

Edoide–Rust Fusion is not only a technique, but a material and visual language of transformation. It emerges from soil to structure, from surface to memory — through oxidation, pressure, and time, it operates as an abstract expression of transformation, extending beyond material corrosion into surfaces where change, tension, and endurance become visible.

Surface becomes evidence — of renewal, survival, pressure, and continuous metamorphosis.

This practice remains open: moving between material investigation, image intervention, and perceptual inquiry.

BlackBox is a way of seeing. It observes beneath the surface and reveals hidden structures.

My camera is my ‘BlackBox’

My Photography has become the creative outlet and medium through which I reveal my autonomous perception, deepening my vision through the exploration of the reincarnative transformation of materials and objects in abstract expression and continuous renewal.

My work unfolds through photographic observation. Moving across surfaces where material intervention and transformation collide, revealing the raw traces of time. and memory.

My structural investigation explores the metamorphosis that I call the Edoide-BlackBox: the transformation of Edoid red earth through rust fusion, drawing from Bini material intelligence, the historical material culture and artistic heritage of the Bini people in Nigeria. This process reveals transformation as both tangible and symbolic impressions, grounded in tradition while inviting contemporary interpretation. Within the Edoide-BlackBox, minimalist perspectives emerge through processes of transformation and renewal.

My works explore the metaphorical duality of existence, where light and shadow, white and black, presence and absence, decay and renewal, and the visible and the invisible coexist without hierarchy, as well as the abstract transformation of the old and the new, of decay and renewal. Through these relationships, the BlackBox reveals transformation rather than opposition.

Decomposition and renewal. Through these, my independent gaze undergoes a reincarnative transformation to deepen the harmony, tension, and visual and emotional depth of my work through continuous structural exploration and innovation.

My artistic approach is inspired by the metamorphosis of what I call the 'Edoide BlackBox'. I blend the raw textures, which also relate to minimalist concepts in photography and the structure of my images, through a process of transformation and renewal. This led to my investigation of the fusion process of ‘Edoid red earth’ and rust before becoming a finished metallic object. In the process, art becomes a central instrument for the Bini people and their historical evolution in Nigeria, not only through bronze works and other associated sculptures, but also through the transformation of earth – the ‘red earth’ – into an autonomous form of creativity rooted in heritage.

These elements do not oppose one another but coexist metaphorically, representing the day and night in my photography and mixed-media works.

My art focuses primarily on the duality of existence without hierarchy and ranking – Black and White , good and evil, beauty and ugliness, heaven and hell, death and life, justice and injustice– through independent perceptions, revealing the hidden traces and the coexistence of the visible and the invisible, which manifest themselves through the metaphor of the ‘black box’ to symbolise the raw link between hidden and the visible as innovative perspectives.
